Abstract
Background: Low back pain secondary to lumbar spondylosis is a common disorder, particularly among older adults, significantly affecting patients’ health and quality of life. Assessment of quality of life provides a comprehensive reflection of patients’ overall condition and treatment effectiveness. Objectives: (1) To assess the quality of life of patients with low back pain secondary to lumbar spondylosis; and (2) To identify several factors associated with quality of life. Materials and Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 116 patients at the Department of Traditional Medicine, Da Nang C Hospital, from April 2025 to September 2025. Quality of life was assessed using the SF-36 questionnaire. Results: The mean quality-of-life score increased from 61.6 ± 16.2 at admission to 77.0 ± 18.4 at discharge. The proportion of patients with good quality of life increased from 23.3% to 71.5% after treatment. Factors significantly associated with quality of life included sex, educational level, disease duration, and body mass index (BMI) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Quality of life in patients tended to improve after treatment. Several factors associated with quality of life included sex, educational level, disease duration, and body mass index (BMI). Strengthening health education, weight control, and early disease management may help improve patients’ quality of life.| Published | 2026-06-18 | |
