Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of the Young Academic Urologist (YAU) nomogram in forecasting outcomes of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Methods: This prospective study included 63 patients with BPH who underwent TURP at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital between March 2022 and September 2024. Success was defined as a minimum 50% reduction in the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and at least a 100% increase in maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) three months postoperatively. The YAU nomogram was utilized to predict surgical outcomes. Results: The success rate of TURP was 65.1% based on the defined criteria. The YAU nomogram demonstrated a mean predictive value of 0.8 ± 0.15, ranging from 0.2 to 0.999. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was 74.8%, with an optimal cutoff point at 83.5%, yielding a sensitivity of 77.3% and specificity of 68.3%.
