Abstract
Background: Clinical competence of nurses is a key determinant of healthcare quality and patient safety. Objective: To assess the current status of clinical competence among nurses and identify its associated factors. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 179 nurses working in clinical departments at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Data were collected using the Clinical Competence Questionnaire (CCQ) and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multivariable regression (p < 0.05). Results: Clinical competence was rated fairly well, with professional behavior scoring the highest (69.76 ± 7.74) and advanced nursing skills the lowest (25.75 ± 3.81). Influencing factors included department, working hours, continuous training, and training effectiveness (p < 0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that professional behavior was influenced by the clinical department and continuous training; core and advanced nursing skills were influenced by training effectiveness and educational level. Conclusions: Nurses’ clinical competence was moderate, with limitations in advanced nursing skills. Influencing factors were multidimensional, particularly training and the work environment. Comprehensive strategies are needed to enhance training quality, professional qualifications, and the clinical practice environment.| Published | 2026-06-18 | |
