Abstract
Background Acute appendicitis is one of the most common reason for emergency abdominal surgery. Normally, the caecum and the appendix are positioned in the right iliac fossa. Acute appendicitis in situs inversus totalis is rare condition. Diagnosis of left side acute appendicitis is a challenge. Case report We report a 24-year-old woman who was diagnosed for an acute appendicitis in situs inversus totalis and successfully treated by laparoscopic appendectomy. Conclusions Acute appendicitis in situs inversus totalis is rare condition. Imaging examination is helpful for diagnosis and laparoscopic appendectomy is the procedure of choice for these patients.Published | 2023-12-01 | |
