Abstract

Background: Dengue hemorrhagic fever is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus, which can lead to epidemics and large outbreaks, clinically presenting with sudden fever and hemorrhage. It is a severe condition that can result in shock or death if not promptly and properly treated. Objective: To investigate Ying (nutritive), Wei (protective), Qi (vital), and Xue (blood) syndromes according to Traditional Medicine in patients with Dengue hemorrhagic fever and explore some related factors associated with Ying, Wei, Qi, and Xue syndromes in patients with Dengue hemorrhagic fever. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 123 patients diagnosed with Dengue hemorrhagic fever receiving treatment at the Infectious Diseases Department of Hue Central Hospital. Results: Dengue hemorrhagic fever patients had the highest proportion of Ying syndrome at 50.4%, followed by Xue syndrome at 24.4%, vital Qi syndrome at 15.4%, and the lowest was Wei syndrome at 9.8%. There were significant associations between Ying, Wei, Qi, and Xue syndromes with the time of hospital admission (p<0.05) and the stage of the disease according to Traditional Medicine (p<0.001), this difference is statistically significant. Conclusion: Dengue hemorrhagic fever patients have the highest proportion of Ying syndrome, followed by Xue syndrome, Qi syndrome, and Wei syndrome. There are correlation between the time of hospital admission and the disease stage according to traditional medicine with Ying, Wei, Qi, and Xue syndromes in patients with Dengue hemorrhagic fever.
