Abstract
Background: Anal fissures significantly affect the quality of life of patients. Besides medical treatment in the acute phase, for chronic anal fissures, closed sphincterotomy surgery has very good results. Objective: To evaluate the early outcomes in patients undergoing surgical treatment at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Methods: A descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted on 19 patients diagnosed with chronic anal fissure. The study period is from January 1, 2024 to April 1, 2026. Clinical and paraclinical characteristics as well as surgical outcomes were collected and analyzed. Results: The most common clinical manifestations were anal bleeding (78.9%) and defecation- related pain (100%). Posterior fissures (6 o’clock position) were the most prevalent (78.9%), followed by anterior fissures (12 o’clock position) (42.1%). Early postoperative complications included anal bleeding in 01 patient. Anal continence, an important outcome measure, was preserved in all patients (100%) at the 3-month postoperative follow-up. The mean of patient satisfaction score was 8.21 ± 0.86. Conclusions: Surgical treatment for chronic anal fissures has good results.| Published | 2026-06-18 | |
