Information For Authors

Hue Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy – University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University publishes seven issues per year, aiming to disseminate research results and updated information on Medicine and Pharmacy, and training and education activities of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The Journal is widely distributed throughout the country.
All submitting papers must not be published in any journals before.
1. General rules
- Use typescript in A4 paper
- Use Unicode Encodings, Fonts: Times New Roman, Size: 12, Spacing lines: 1.0
- Margins: Left: 3 cm; Right: 2 cm, Top: 2 cm, Bottom: 2 cm
2. Title
- Title: size: 14, no Bold, Center Text
- Authors: written below title, size 12
3. Abstract
- In about 200 words, including: Background (including objectives), Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions.
- Keywords: List of key words using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) with Index Medicus.
4. Full text
- Structures: Background/Introduction, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions & Recommendations, References, and Appendix (if available)
- Total number of charts and pictures should not be over six figures.
- Clip arts are formatted with .JPEG and must be sent together with original pictures to Editorial Board.
- References: Cite references in the text sequentially in the Vancouver numbering style. For example: ...as reported by Linh and colleagues [15]
- Literature Review Paper: The review is not exceeding 10 pages including tables and references. Original paper, full references and data sources quoted in the paper must be included in the submission.
5. Submission: Papers can be submitted directly (CD ROM, USB) or through email to tcydhue@gmail.com or on huejmp.vn
6. The authors are responsible for their own papers and should be aware of their publication to the public as well as following the provisions of Press Law and Copyrights.

GUIDELINES/REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH TYPE OF ARTICLE

A. GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Write the full name of the author(s) without including academic titles, degrees, or positions.

  • Use a superscript number (reference number) after each author’s name to annotate their affiliation.

  • Mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide their email address.

  • Write the author’s name and affiliation in both Vietnamese and English.

  • Format for Email and Affiliation:

    • Author(s) and their contact information: The author’s full name should be written. The corresponding author is marked with an asterisk (*). The corresponding author should provide their complete contact details, including institution, postal address, phone number, and email address. Other authors must also provide their email and phone number.

    • Institution: The author’s or authors’ institution(s) are numbered sequentially starting with 1.

B. GUIDELINES

I. Research Article

  • Article Title: Should be concise, not in uppercase, and reflect the main content of the article, avoiding abbreviations.

  • Abstract: The abstract should be approximately 300-350 words in both Vietnamese and English. Keywords should reflect the main issues discussed in the research, using 3-5 words or phrases. The English abstract must accurately translate the meaning of the Vietnamese abstract, following proper grammar and scientific style.

    • The Vietnamese abstract should include: Introduction, Research Objectives, Subjects and Methods, Results, Conclusion, Keywords.

    • The English abstract should include: Background, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion, Keywords.

  • Structure:

    1. INTRODUCTION
      A brief summary of the research problem and objectives.

    2. SUBJECTS AND METHODS
      This section should be concise but include enough information for the reader to understand the research process. Detailed descriptions are required only for novel processes or methods. Cite sources for standard procedures. This section includes:

      • Subjects (group, inclusion criteria, exclusion criteria).

      • Methods (study design, sample size and selection, research variables, research process, data analysis methods, study duration and location, approval from the Ethics Committee in biomedical research if applicable). For pharmaceutical or laboratory studies, include details of chemicals and equipment used.

    3. RESULTS
      Present figures, tables, and charts directly in this section, with a title and brief commentary underneath. Figures, tables, and charts should be numbered sequentially starting from 1. Avoid overly simple or complex tables or charts. The number of figures, tables, and charts should be at least 3 but not exceed 6.

    4. DISCUSSION
      Discuss the interpretation of results. Only address interpretations related to the findings. Align the results with the research objectives.

    5. CONCLUSION
      Write succinctly, summarizing the key findings without repeating the results. It should be 5-7 sentences long, not in bullet points.

    6. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS (if applicable)
      Thank individuals, organizations, or institutions that supported the research.

    7. REFERENCES (20-30 references recommended)
      Format according to citation guidelines.

II. Review Article

  • Article Title: Concise, precise, and reflecting the topic, without abbreviations.

  • Abstract: Provide a general overview of the topic, the purpose of the review, the method of literature collection, research trends, future prospects, and conclusions. The English abstract must be a precise translation of the Vietnamese abstract, adhering to proper grammar and scientific style.

  • Structure:

    1. INTRODUCTION
      State the purpose of the review and explain the motivation behind it. Discuss the relevance of the topic, potential limitations, and the impact of the review on the field.

    2. CONTENT OF THE REVIEW
      The content may be divided into subheadings according to the author's perspective. You may present the information in written text, tables, diagrams, or figures. Preferably use recent references and highlight the achievements and limitations of each source. Figures and tables should adhere to the journal's format. Provide insights into the future research trends in the reviewed topic.

    3. CONCLUSION
      Summarize what the review has contributed and whether it achieved its intended objectives. Discuss the future research directions in the field.

    4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS (if applicable)
      Thank those who contributed to the review.

    5. REFERENCES (20-30 references recommended)
      Format according to citation guidelines.

III. Case Report

  • Article Title: Should be short but convey the essence of the case report, avoiding abbreviations.

  • Abstract: Provide a brief summary of the case's context, diagnosis, management process, and treatment outcome in one paragraph (max 200 words). Keywords should reflect the main issues, with 3-5 words or phrases.

  • Structure:

    1. INTRODUCTION
      Introduce the case report and explain the benefits of publishing this case.

    2. CASE REPORT
      Describe the circumstances under which the case was discovered, the management and treatment process, and the outcome.

    3. DISCUSSION
      Should not exceed two pages. Discuss the reasons for the case and the outcome.

    4. CONCLUSION
      Write briefly, avoiding listing the results.

    5. REFERENCES
      Format according to citation guidelines (7-10 references recommended).

C. ARTICLE FORMAT

  1. Articles should be written in Microsoft Word on A4 paper.

  2. Formatting: Top margin: 2 cm, Bottom margin: 2 cm, Left margin: 3 cm, Right margin: 2 cm, Line spacing: single, spacing before: 0 pt, spacing after: 0 pt.
    a) Title: Font size 13, no uppercase, bold, centered.
    b) Abstract: Bold, aligned left.
    c) Section headings: Bold, numbered with Roman numerals (1-5), aligned left.
    d) Text: Font size 12, single line spacing.

  3. Tables and figures: Do not bold titles. Table titles are aligned left, not italicized, and should stretch across the entire page. Tables should be repeated if they span multiple pages.

  4. References: Font size 11, justified.

  5. Page numbers: Centered at the bottom of the page.

  6. The first page should include the article title, author(s), affiliation(s), address, phone number, email, and supervisor(s) (if any). The corresponding author must be clearly marked.

D. IMAGE, TABLE, AND UNIT OF MEASUREMENT GUIDELINES

  1. Images and Tables:

    • Ensure clarity and readability. Tables should not exceed 7 columns.

    • Tables and figures should be numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Table 2; Figure 1, Figure 2).

    • Table titles are placed above the table, aligned left, bold, and capitalized at the beginning, with no period at the end.

    • Figure captions are placed below the figure, centered, bold, and capitalized at the beginning, with no period at the end.

    • Cite sources for tables/figures from other works.

    • Images should be placed at appropriate locations in the text and submitted in JPEG format (at least 300 dpi).

  2. Units of Measurement:

    • Length, area, volume: mm, cm, km, mm², cm², m³, µL, mL, L, etc.

    • Mass: kg, g, mg, µg, ng, kDa, Da, etc.

    • Concentration: nM, µM, mM, M, %, µg/L, mg/L, g/L, etc.

    • Ensure a space between numbers and units (e.g., 5 L, 5 kg), but write percentages without spaces (e.g., 5%).

E. CITATION GUIDELINES

  1. References should be cited numerically, not by author or year.

  2. Foreign language references should remain in their original language, without transliteration or translation.

  3. Follow the Vancouver referencing style. For books, articles, conference papers, theses, etc., adhere to the specific formats outlined in the original document.
